STUDENT COUNCIL TO CONTINUE RACING IN 2008 (12/7/2007)

Lexington, Ky.-Millennium Farms' Student Council will return to the track in 2008, with potential early season targets including the $500,000 Donn Handicap (GI) at Gulfstream Park on February 2, the $1 million Santa Anita Handicap (GI) on March 2 and the $6 million Dubai World Cup (G1) on March 29. The winner of the $500,000 Hawthorne Gold Cup (GII) and the $1 million Pacific Classic (GI) most recently traveled to Tokyo for the Japan Cup Dirt, where he finished eighth in a field of 16.

"Student Council has proven to be one of the top older horses in training this year," said Ro Parra, owner of Millennium Farms. "He's sound, he's fresh, and we believe he's got more grade one wins in him."

Bred by Lane's End Farm, the coming 6-year-old son of Kingmambo was purchased by Millennium Farms in August of 2007. Steve Asmussen trained him up to the $500,000 Hawthorne Gold Cup (GII), having taken over for Vladimir Cerin, who saddled Student Council for the $1 million Pacific Classic (GI). Cerin was the trainer of record for the Japan Cup Dirt.

Student Council has won seven of 23 starts, for earnings of more than $1.1 million. Prior to his purchase by Parra, Student Council took the 2007 Maxxam Gold Cup Handicap at Sam Houston Race Park.

Established seven years ago, 320-acre Millennium Farms is home to stallions Even the Score, Scrimshaw, Shaniko, Will He Shine Woke Up Dreamin and Littleexpectations. Breeders' Cup Juvenile winner Wilko was bred, foaled and raised at the farm, and 2006 Breeders' Cup Juvenile starter King of the Roxy was sired by Millennium's Littleexpectations.
